Dear Charles Families,

I have recently been approved as the new principal of Charles Elementary School. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such amazing students, an extremely dedicated hard working staff, and such a supportive school community. I feel very fortunate to be part of this school and to serve the students, staff, and families. I hope to continue and build upon all of the great things that the previous principals have accomplished.

I have been in the field of education for more than 25 years. I have worked with students ranging in age from Preschool through 12th grade in a variety of roles. I completed my undergraduate degrees at Illinois College, in Jacksonville, Illinois. There I studied Elementary Education and Social Studies/History. I completed my graduate degrees at Indiana University, in Ft. Wayne, Indiana as well as the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado. There I studied Educational Administration and Supervision.

For the past three years, I have served as the principal of Westview Elementary School in Richmond. I am thrilled to bring my skills as an educational leader to Charles Elementary School and to work with you as a partner in education to ensure your child's success.

On a personal note, my wife and I live in Richmond. My wife Kristen teaches ENL/ELL for RCS. I have three children. My son Hayden 22 graduated from Trine University in May, my daughter Jensen 19 graduated from Richmond 2021 and attends the University of South Alabama, and my daughter Addisen is in 10th grade at Richmond High School. We also have 5 loving dogs and a cat.

I would like to invite you all to an informal meet and greet on Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 6:00-7:00p.m, on the Charles playground. I will bring popsicles. Families are welcome to stop by and introduce themselves and enjoy a cold treat. Don’t worry if your family can’t make it! There will be many opportunities to meet me. I’m excited to get to know all of you!
